Vote Yes on 6B
Yes for Clifton Fire!
6B is a 1% sales tax—1 penny on a $1 purchase—to improve emergency-response times and firefighter safety. 6B will also allow the District’s to replace its aging 1980s-era station and add a satellite station in the southern part of the district to significantly response times.
A 1% sales tax is estimated to generate $2.5 million annually. Even with the increase, Clifton’s total sales tax would be less than Grand Junction at 8.66% and Palisade at 7.27%.
6B would ensure that visitors support our community’s safety and avoids burdening local property owners.
If approved by voters, 6B will:
Support construction of a modern station and a new satellite station to improve coverage and response times
Enhance wildfire readiness and water rescue response
Recruiting and retaining additional firefighters and emergency medical personnel
Why does Clifton Fire need a new station?
Clifton’s only fire station was built in the 1980s—long before today’s 24/7 emergency service demands. It houses the department’s primary emergency equipment, but even after several remodels, the building no longer meets the community’s needs.
Current challenges include:
No proper gear decontamination or training space
Inadequate and unsafe housing for full-time crews
Structural defects identified in a recent engineering study
A non-central location that slows response times to parts of the district
With 4,400+ emergency calls every year, the Clifton Fire Protection District is one of the busiest single-station fire departments in Colorado. To keep pace—and protect our growing community—we must modernize.
